FIC SUMMARY:
“Momochi Zabuza. What an unexpected surprise.” Mei tips up her ANBU mask with a thin smile, her tongue a cruel lash cracking against the back of her teeth. "You know, I should kill you.”
He wishes she’d try. “I’m already dead, Mei,” Zabuza bites out, rough thumb stroking up Haku’s soft cheek and coming back bloody. Something shakes left in his chest. “But the kid— the kid could still—”
Save him, he’s saying. Save the kid and you’ll save me too.
OR: The war is over. Haku and Zabuza rebuild their lives on a farm, and find themselves growing in the process.

In the Shadow of the Valley (Padawan!Din AU):Β When young Death Watch assassin Din Djarin fails his mission to kill Anakin Skywalker, he expects the Jedi to kill him. What actually happens is far, far worse: Skywalker makes him his padawan.
The lasersword cuts through Galaar blaster rounds and durasteel like silver fish through dark water, yet when the plasma blade retracts and the hilt is shoved against Dinβs throat it is as cold as the frigid blue eyes of his target, Jedi Anakin Skywalker.Β
βSee that button on the side? One push and your head kisses the floor,β the Jedi hisses, digging the hilt in deeper into the exposed skin between helmet and chest-plate. The peculiar pressure from before is back, the Jediβs magic bracketing his ribs and flooding his lungs with molten iron. Din does not struggle this time β knows the spell is not one so easily broken, not with Skywalkerβs large rough hand snarled around his wrists and shoving his face into the temple floor. βGive me one good reason not to.β
Go on, Din thinks, Kill me. I am already dead.
Inside the helmet, bitter tears sting his eyes and sour his mouth, his open mouthed, bruised-breath exhalations rust-tinged and shaky-kneed with pain and fury; but on the outside, where the beskar that is his true face shields him from the world, Din is all cold metal and proud heritage, clad in the silver bones of Mandalore and the Resolβnare, the soul of his people: unshakeable.
welp, it’s official. i drank my own flavor-ade and started the thrawn/padme/maul fic.
sorry i just have to say
eli/vader is so funny because it is NOT a real ship. there is nothing there baby! no love no romance MAYBE some accidentally hot bootblacking fetish! but mostly eli is just once again the lieutenant to a guy with major control issues, except this time it’s the total inverse of thrawn, and Vader is totally doing this because he’s petty and he is amused by taking something that belongs to thrawn, and also he is maybe playing out some weird power fantasy scenario where he corrupts someone who is “good”* into being as awful as he is because he never succeeded with padmé and by god does that still bother him sometimes. (why wouldn’t she just listen to him? she could be empress and he would have been her conquering king!) meanwhile eli is just There and once again stuck with a very powerful, very lonely, very weird old man
just remembered the insane eli/vader drabble i wrote for literally no reason at all
thinking about throwing quinlan vos into the “fox is possessed by darth momin” au just because it’s hilarious

looking at the first and last lines of the one-shots i’m working on:
It’s a beautiful night, and they are in mortal danger.
VS
Their hand clings to the knife; they never were good at letting go.
This deep in the seafloor forest, night and day are one and the same.
VS
“Yer not my fuckin’ friend,” Zabuza sneers, but he does not touch his sword again until seafloor forest is far behind them.
Sunset comes to a slow boil in Tea Country: first, the bronze-varnished sun streams across the burning muscles between Haku’s shoulders, steams across slender fingers silvered and scarred by senbon needles as they gently untangle the roots of seedlings, bubbles up over the tattered gauze concealing Zabuza’s slanted mouth, before boiling over with color, reds and pinks and yellows and oranges, and spilling down the long swansong of Haku’s neck like a heavenly bruise, an outpouring of ichor.
VS
It’s hours past supper time when they finish, the moon overhead a pale gem set in a black pearl sky, and as they shuffle back to their cabin stiff with labor and caked in dirt and bug bites and grass stains, Haku thinks he actually likes the simple life just fine, thank you very much.
